Radar Detector Shift+Link Compatibility
with the Laser Shifter ZR3

What does "linking" a radar detector (Passport 8500 X50, original Passport 8500 detector, Cordless Solo S2, or Passport 7500S) to the Laser Shifter ZR3 mean?

The Laser Shifter ZR3 can be integrated, or "linked" to the Passport 8500 X50, Passport 8500, Cordless Solo S2, or Passport 7500S, using the ZR3 "link" cable (included with the ZR3).

When the ZR3 is linked to one of these Escort radar detectors, all visual and audible alerts are generated through the radar detector, eliminating the use of the ZR3 display controller.

Once the radar detector is connected to the ZR3, you may use the detector's Program Mode to control how the Laser Shifter ZR3 operates.

How can I tell if my Escort radar detector has the ability to link with the Laser Shifter ZR3?

All Passport 8500 detectors shipped after February 11, 2002 have Shifter Code which allows them to "link" to the Laser Shifter ZR3. Also, all Passport 8500 X50, Cordless Solo S2 and Passport 7500S radar detectors have the "Shift+Link" ability.

Can earlier Passport 8500 detectors be modified to link with the Laser Shifter ZR3?

Yes. If your Passport 8500 shipped prior to February 11, 2002, you may contact the Escort Customer Service Department for details. Call 800-964-3143, 8am-6pm Eastern, Monday-Friday for details.

Does the Laser Shifter ZR3 work with other radar detectors?

The Shifter ZR3 may be used along with any radar detector. However, the only detectors with the ability to directly "link" to the Laser Shifter ZR3 are the Passport 8500 X50 (and Passport 8500), Solo S2, Passport 7500S, or the Passport SR7 radar detectors from Escort.
